Fontecchio

Fontecchio is a romantic little mountain town in the heart of the natural reserve of the Sirente-Velino Park. It's about 25 km from the Region's capital L'Aquila and you can arrive in about 1 hour from the airport of Pescara. It has about 400 inhabitants. The village is typical medieval town with narrow streets, little steep steps beautiful squares. and old stone houses. In the central square of the little village there is a medieval fountain and only few steps apart an old clock tower. There are 2 bars, a post office, 2 very good restaurants, a little supermarket, a butcher's store, a farmacy and a shop with typical products. Fontecchio is an ideal place for excursions and walks in the natural reserve of the Sirente-Velino and you can arrive in about 15 minutes by car to the amazing caves Grotte di Stiffe and the little lake of San Demetrio.
